Gochu is an independent, family-run business established in 2021.
Our mission is to blend high-quality fresh produce, a luxurious experience, and top-tier service within a space that feels both comfortable and welcoming. Inspired by the ancient Japanese philosophy of inyo—the harmonious balance of contrasting elements—we’ve woven this concept into the creation of Gochu. From our interior design to our carefully curated menus, inyo guides us in creating experiences that are both innovative and deeply balanced, allowing each element to elevate and enhance the other.

“Wow!! We visited on Saturday and were seated in the top terrace! The interior was beautiful and had a lovely cosy feel! We ordered lots of little dishes and I couldn’t fault a single thing. The salmon sushi was so fresh and full of flavour and the pork bao buns were the best I have ever had!!! (Honestly will be dreaming about them). The staff were lovely and super attentive. “We have been coming to Gochu regularly since it opened and can honestly say we have only ever had wonderful meals! The food is always beautifully prepared with well balanced flavours and innovative ideas. The blend of traditional Japanese culinary ideas with British flavours works wonderfully. Personal favourites are the small plates as well as the more traditional Sunday dinner. There is an extensive bar and cocktail menu with drinks being expertly prepared. Away from the food and drink, the atmosphere and service is exceptional. A young, dynamic team, for whom nothing seems to be too much trouble, only serves to cement Gochu as our favourite restaurant by some distance!”
“This is the 5th time we have visited and as Gochu has never failed to impress, I am compelled to leave a review! Eleanor waited on us this visit and her smile, politeness and knowledge of the menu are something worthy of a mention. When you enter the restaurant, you are immediately made welcome and shown to your table by the manager. The ambient lighting and atmosphere makes you feel comfortable. Their food is freshly made to order, either small, sharing style plates or individual large plates. We took advantage of their January blues offer on the Sunday roasts- twice! The beef is the best we have ever tasted. We haven’t yet sampled much of the cocktail menu but their Tokyo iced tea is 👌! Keep up the outstanding work team Gochu, you are a credit to Poulton.”

Is the full menu available on all floors?

Do you provide disabled access?
If disabled access is required, please let us know prior to your booking so we can ensure the ground floor dining is as comfortable as possible.
Do you cater for allergies?
We can cater for allergies - just make sure you inform a server when you arrive and we will go through the menu choices. A gluten free menu is available upon request.
Can I purchase gift vouchers?
You can purchase gift vouchers on our website or at the venue - we accept cash or card.
Work at Gochu
The Gochu family is growing!
We are looking for full and part time chefs with passion, creativity and attention to detail to join our strong team. Those who apply must be eager to learn and keen to develop their skills working alongside our Head Chef Jake, and work well under pressure. Some experience and knowledge is preferred, however training will be offered for those who show initiative and enthusiasm. Email jake@gochu.co.uk for more info!
